Diabetes - The Most Accurate Continuous Monitor

Comparison of the Numerical and Clinical Accuracy of Four Continuous Glucose Monitors -- Kovatchev et al. 31 (6): 1160 -- Diabetes Care

I happened upon this post while researching CGMs. The post itself is not much use, but the 2nd link I included is good info. My beef with CGMs is their apparent lack of usable data. Sure they spit out a number reflecting a glucose level, but the data isn't all that useful. I don't care what my BS was 20 minutes ago. The only use to me would be to analyze trends. I'm guessing this would allow me to see what my basal dose is doing.

BTW, I didn't buy the article. Maybe someone else subscribes to the journal?

I'd love to be able to use a CGM. It seems that Abbott's monitor is getting closer to what we all want...no more (or very few) finger sticks, up to the minute data, less junk to carry around, and greater control. Guess I'll just wait and see. I do think 5-10 years from now these things will be standard issue for all of us.

Trending info for me would be a big boost but alas, I cannot get my insurance to cover it yet.
