| | | As Seen On TV! I was watching television this afternoon and saw the ad AGAIN for Access Diabetic Supply. I have heard the commercial play several times and they always say that if you have Medicare then you may be able to get your diabetic supplies delivered to your door FREE.....and best of all "no more finger pricks". So I gathered they must have some new magic blood glucose monitor that doesn't require blood for a reading. Or perhaps there are no finger sticks, but you do have to stick your arm. This really should be illegal. I went to the website and it asks for your social security number, name address and medicare number before you can ever go into their site. No secure server.
This really is abuse. I wonder why they haven't been shut down. |

| | | They are preying on the feeble and very elderly. Legally it's permitted under Salesman's Hype and Buyer Beware. Morally it's reprehensible and they should have all of their digits removed. The question that comes to mind is, "Why would a meter manufacture want their name associated with them?" Sort of puts them in the same boat and strikes me as negative PR. |

| | | I've seen two versions of the ad. The first says something like "never have to prick fingers again" or "never have sore fingers again"...or something along those lines.
The newer version (after all the complaints?) says same but adds something about testing on the forearm. Which hurts me more than the fingers.
I agree, it was a pretty sleazy commercial. These are the companies that "handle all the billing" and then overcharge medicare and such. |

| | | I hate the Liberty ads that say they will send you a free meter. All Liberty is doing is ripping off the insurance company as they are sending the bill for the meter to them when if the person just called the company to begin with they could probably get it for free as well without wasting insurance money jacking up the rates.

| | | There was a show on TV a few years ago that tracked government budget ripoffs. Glucose meters that normally cost $85 tops (retail) were being charged to the government by these mail-order companies to the tune of several hundred dollars. Why? Because that is what the government "allowed" for reimbursement. Hope that has all changed. |
