| | BG Levels Upon Awakening Is there a guidline for blood glucose levels first thing in the morning? I'm assuming the same as pre-meal.

| | | The guideline I've been following, per my endo, is to keep it under 120.

| | | My fasting readings generally run from 95-120 or so. Morning levels, as I've found personally, and from the folks here, are historically the hardest to predict and control. But 122 isn't bad at all, as many people on here who experience Dawn Phenomenon will tell you.

| | | Dawn phenomenon is usually between 3-4am?
I tested this morning at 4am and I was 110. I guess that is a positive sign....at least today.

| | | Ideally, FBG is the same as pre-meal. Dawn phenomenon can affect that, however.
My diagnosis was based on two readings, one of 127 and the other 123, in the first part of February. 100-126 is considered pre-diabetic, 127 and over diabetic. When I first started taking daily measurements, my FBG almost always in the 100-115 range, with a few higher nos. where I'd eaten something high-carb the night before. Now, I range from 85-100, and go to 102 maybe once a week. |

| | | I usually eat no carbs for dinner with exception to veggies and sometimes a piece of fruit. That is easy to do in the summer with the grilling weather.

A year ago when I went to my doctor for a FBG test I tested 75. This morning, I tested 108. Perhaps not a horrid number but, above the normal range. I don't know wy that didn't strike me as the SAME exam. I realize these meters have a 20% range but, I got it!
Thanks.
