| Unfortunately many insurance companies still consider CGMSs experimental or investigational. My employer approved the use of the sensors but the insurance company refused to pay for them for about 6 months, then decided to cover them. I'm not sure exactly what went on - my employer and the insurer duked it out.
BUT, I did learn that they are more favorable to approving them if you experience lows, especially when you can't feel them coming on. You'll need backing from your doctor/endo and probably some data showing your lows if you experience them.
They really should be covered - I think they're a very valuable tool, especially for figuring out basal rates and how different foods affect you.
