blood test results

I went to the doctor today to review my blood test results and get medications re-filled. Here are my results:

A1C-5.9
Total cholesterol-146
Triglycerides- 156
HDL-39
LDL-76

I'm pretty happy with everything except my Triglycerides which are a touch high and my HDL which is low. I know what to do to get my triglycerides down but what should I do to raise my HDL? My doctor has decided to lower my Glucophage from 1000mg 2 x a day to 500 twice a day. We will monitor my progress for the next three months (smack dab during the holiday season) and if I'm still doing well she said in January she would take me off the Glucophage to see how that works. I'm so excited to be able to decrease my meds.

I had a very low HDL at diagnosis (23 I think). Doc suggested fish oil tablets, red wine and exercise. Within 3 months, it was up to 48.

Congrats on that great A1C!

Congratulations on your great A1c results!

The prospect of reducing meds must be really exciting - well done!
