| | For Freestyle Meter users... I don't know if you know (I didn't), but there is something called the "Freestyle Promise" member card that can reduce your copay on your test strips to only $15... Ask your diabetes case managers at your insurance companies or your diabetes educators to see if they can get you one. I just got one for myself and my daughter... test strips for 2 is pricey, even with the insurance, this will make it more affordable. |

| | | You'll find that many people on this site have this card, saves me a bundle every month. Thanks for sharing though, hopefully it will help somebody who was not aware of this service.

| | | Katie, if you get the card they will send you a meter for free. That is part of the program. It's worth looking into, since it can save you a significant amount of money.
With insurance I'm average about 50$ a month for strips. With the card it's only $15 a month. It's definitely wroth the savings!
In fact, that is how I got my meter. I received the card at the ADA walk, called the number, and had the meter two days later.

| | Calling 1 800 246 2683 or go FreeStyle Promise™ - Diabetes Resources For Your Lifestyle is how you're supposed to be able to get it. However, word of warning, if you live in CA you have to fill in a waiver & mail it to them...I did that a month ago & haven't heard anything about my card/meter yet. |

| | | Thanks for all this info! Do you have to have insurance to take advantage of those kind of savings? I'd love to only have to pay 15...sure beats what I'm lookin to pay with my OneTouch!!

You pay the first $15, then they pay up to a certain amount after that. When they hit that amount, you have to pay a certain amount, then they pick up the rest. Clear as mud? I think without my insurance card it would cost me about $40 for a month supply- so still significantly cheaper than without anything at all. If you call the number they can explain it better than I did. That whole scenario didn't apply to me so I really didn't pay attention.

| | | its very state dependant
I had 2 of these plans and one rejected the request because im in Texas - I wish that was on the form - it would have saved me the trouble
Not sure if it was the freestyle plan or the Apidra plan

Since Smiths Medical has given up, I hope there will be more options available in 2 or 3 years - if not I may just go back to MDI |
