Had my first "squirter" today haha!

Well after a couple intense games of basketball I went in the locker room to check my BS. The first finger prick I did I didn't get enough blood for a reading so I tried a different finger. I squeezed it a little and WHOOSH blood went everywhere! It was funny and awesome! I don't think anyone saw it... good thing for that. But really it was sweet it went like 2 feet in the air all over my face and my glucometer and my hands I was impressed. I read about these a little bit on here the other day... and today I got my first after about 700 tests. What causes these? How often do you get them?

I'm really proud of myself

The official term is "gusher"!

I've never had a finger one, but my pump sets, at least the sure-t's, give me them regularly.

I have had a gusher or two in my fingers. They are pretty hilarious unless you are in company of others that don't appreciate the fountain.

I have only had one pump set gusher, it was more annoying than anything. I was in a hurry.

Ha! I remember the very first time I had one, I shot myself right in the eye! I was so surprised! Funny thing was, my CDE had warned me that could happen occationally just a few days earlier - even though I'd already been testing for nearly a year it hadn't happened yet, I was sure she was crazy for even suggesting it

Haha that's what happened to me! A few days ago I was reading about someone having one on here, and I didn't even know what they were at the time. Then *POOF* I get one out of nowhere.

Coincedence? I think not...

I've only had one of these happen once and it surprised the **** out of me. At the time I WAS using my accuchek compact which came with a 120mm howitzer to use as your lancet. My parents were a bit surprised when they looked in the back of the car and saw blood on me and my face.

I'm glad that it hasn't happened since, haha.

I don't remember before this but my A1C's were in the 5.7% area before I went to college...

These numbers should improve as I'm no longer trapped by the outrageous school/work schedules of college and will be starting a job with fantastic working conditions soon!

do you squeeze your fingers with reckless abandon or what?

I only squeeze JUST hard enough because....
I can't imagine having a gusher in public place like class... And then having to clean up the mess!

Oh, I think it would be embarrassing. (and I am not easily embarrassed.) But it would be kinda cool if solitary, and if I didn't pass out from the shock!

No! That's the crazy part... it was almost surreal.. it's like everything has to line up in the universe just so for it to happen.. if you try to make it happen, it won't

I don't lance super deep either - I was using a softclix back then (11 depth settings?) and had it set to 1 or 1.5 most of the time.

hmm...i've had drippy fingers, but never one that just shoots blood...could have fun with that i suppose...like superhero skills or the x men...what name would you take?

as for other body parts...yes, most particulary legs when blind shooting...not much superhero skill to be had there..

Sniff. Yer growing up. Welcome to the gusher club.

I did it at work. I was wearing a black shirt and couldn't find the blood but omg like 18" fountain of gore all over my chest. It was amazing. And noone saw it.

When I see those lil fat blue veins in my fingers, I'm tempted to punch a hole in one, but gotta refrain.

OMG! OMG! OMG!

This morning... I did my normal poke, went to squeeze up to get my drop... and blammo! I swear, it squirted a foot or more in the air. Made an absolute mess, and scared the *ell out of me! I almost got it all over my uniform. I've been doing this for a year and a half... and I actually thought you guys were nuts before it happened to me today. LOL.

There... I have officially joined the squirter's club with the rest of you. The question is... did it happen because of this thread? Ewww... that's deep..

LOL.

Regards,

D
