| | | BG Meter that's USB with 'affordable strips' Does anyone know of a BG monitor making company out there that makes a Meter that has a USB port on it for transfer to PC AND MAC and whose strips would be in the $40-$50 range (max) for 50? My insurance will likely charge me $35 or $50 for however many my doc prescribes -- But I'm at the point where I want a way to get my numbers to my MacIntosh.. ALL USB Meters would transfer to MAC too... I'm pretty sure..
Any help appreciated! |

| | | Call the manufacturer of your current meter.
A lot of meters have the COM port.
They wil most likely have a charge for the cable or the software

| | | The OneTouch Ultra line has USB cable. Clunky software, but you can export the date to Excel. Call LifeScan.

| | | Bayer's coming out with a Contour USB meter (bayercontourusb.com) that will use the regular Contour strips that are already on the market. I buy my Contour strips for less than $30 per 50 online.

| | | You can get the cable, software and monitor for free if you find one with cheap strips. Just call up the monitor manufacturer and tell them you're looking for a new monitor and you want to try theirs out - and you're specifically interested in the data download function. So it'd be great if they could send you the monitor, cable and software. If they umm and ahh, just wish them a nice day and tell them you'll be trying a different brand in that case. They'll back down pretty quickly.
You should never have to pay for anything to test your blood except for strips and lancets. |

| | | The Bayer Contour and Breeze2 both have a USB port. The test strips at WalMart are about $51 for 50 and you can download the software from the Bayer site. You can also order the USB cable from the Bayer site...I think it's about $15.

I don't know what the strips cost though. Bayer's Contour USB Meter - home

Too bad the TT strips are a lot cheaper or I'd switch. |

| | | Really? Bloody ****, I've got five monitors with cable and software that I've blagged for free. Perhaps the cheaper strips with TT mean lower margins and less incentive for them to give away. |

| | Thanks everyone for their input. My FreeStyle FREEDOM Lite does have a port for connection -- but the stereo mini to USB cable is $35 --Are you KIDDING ME?!! What a joke.
Thanks again, everybody! Bayer Contour will likely get my business or that company that has the rotating 10strip DISK -- I like that concept and found the discs online for $30 or so for 5 disks of 10 strips each.. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
