| | | A1c At Home Test this weekend I have my monthly A1c home test tomorrow; My last four results were:
November 14, 7.7
December 12, 6.9
January 10, 7.1
February 13, 7.1
If nothing else, I am consistent. Somehow, I am thinking I should be lower this reading, maybe about 6.7. We'll see.

~Sandi | We've agreed here that they are accurate--Some members have tested with the home kit and been tested at the doctor's office and the readings were comparable. Quote: |

| | | Okay, I couldn't wait! I had to change my insertion set tonight, so I decided, "what the hay?"
Drum-rolllllllll...
6.1
Woohoo! That's the lowest I have ever had, and it translates to exactly 140 mg/dL. Now where are those donuts?

| | Duck, I did home A1C tests at the one month and two month marks after pump start. They showed a 0.6% and a 1.2% (raw number) smaller A1C. I gave blood last Tuesday at my endo's office (5 vials worth ). I am anxious to see if the downward trend continues or if the number stays that low. I am hoping to have a good talk with my endo when I see him Tuesday. Most importantly, I will thank him for giving me my life back due to the change after pump start. I also owe a great thanks to the folks here who encouraged me to go ahead and try the pump.!!! This truly is a great place for advice and support!!! |

This truly is a great place for advice and support!!! | I am very curious to know what the endo's office says your A1c is compared to the Home A1c Kit. My next endo appt. isn't until June 1, tho I am trying to get in with my PCP sooner. I hope these home kits are as accurate as they say, but if nothing else, they do give me some type of month-to-month tracking mechanism for my A1c's...Maybe they're high, maybe they are low, but as long as they are consistent! (kinda like our meters)
The endo who finally capitulated and helped me get on my pump retired six months after I started going to him...At our last visit, I told him he would go down in history as one of the MOST important people ever in my life because of the pump. I understand your sentiments about your endo, Brent. |

Thanks everyone! My wife and I are discussing whether or not I should try to lower the A1c even more, or be happy that I am exceeding the ADA's recommendations...Then again, it is QUITE a task just getting to 6.1. Hmmmmmm... |

Hmmmmmm... | Good job on that A1c! Perhaps you should just maintain the status quo that is working for you so well for a month or two before trying to go lower. You could get so many hypos that it could backfire on you... I find now that my control is getting better with the pump that I am getting a few of them now and then... they kind of sneak up on you slower when pumping than with MDI - harder to sense it coming on! | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
