Accucheck Compact, accuracy?

Hi! I just have a quick question.. I had to buy an "emergency meter" (long story) at Wal-Mart the other day and ended up with the Accucheck Compact because they didn't have the Reli-On that I wanted.

What I was wondering is if anyone can give me any input as to how accurate this meter might be? I tried an experiment this morning before breakfast, and got my lowest PP reading ever for that time of day. Since I'm out of my regular test strips (I'm waiting for them to arrive by mail) I have nothing to compare to and don't know if my great results were because of what I did differently or because the meter reads low.

I can't answer your question but I'm under the impression that it isn't good to compare various meter readings to each other. I always check my blood sugar when they take blood at a lab and compare it to those results.

I too have wondered about the accuracy of this meter. I've noticed that I get consistently higher results from it when compared to the Accuchek Active, even from the same finger prick!

I found this meter to be accurate, but as Lowell has mentioned, I dont think that it is a good idea to compare the meters, a few yrs ago I got a new meter (still had my old one with me in perfectly gd workin order) and with the new meter I found one minute it was showing readings of 1.6 then the next it was 6.7... checked on my old meter and also did too readings and they showed 5.5 and 5.7.... so I think no-one can say (IMO) which meter is best, you will find one that suits you.

Thanks guys for your responses. Buzzborne, I'm glad that you've found this meter to be accurate. I know that you can't really compare one meter to another. Even my two Freestyle meters (one regular, one Flash) read differently, with the Flash tending to read higher.

I guess what I really wanted to know was if anyone had compared this meter's results to lab results. I know that at my last testing my regular Freestlyle was within two points of the lab's results, which I figured was pretty good. That's why I would have liked to compare it's results with the Accu-Chek's to see if they were even close. As it turns out, they are, so I'm pleased, particularly since I just got a great deal on Accu-Check test strips on e-bay.

How can you gage the accuracy of a meter? I've only ever had this meter:

and I'd love to know how accurate it is.

I used the Accu-Chek Advantage for many years and was always happy with it. I bought the Accu-Chek Complete in 1999 because of the memory features it has and when I've compared it to lab results, so far, it's always been within 3 mg/dL of the lab reading.
