Accu-Chek was nice enough to send me a spanky new Compaq Plus with its internal IR upload to the computer/software. What they didn't send me was the Accu-Chek Smart Pix Device Reader cable they sell separate for $99. That's like selling someone a black Cadillac in Las Vegas and then charging them for the air conditioner.

All you have to do is call them and tell them you'd like to try out their Compaq Plus meter. Lady was very nice that I talked to. I'm in fact impressed with Accu-Chek's customer service and support. Something hard to find nowadays.

i tried to tell them i wanted to try , the lady I had told me they sell them at CVS and Walgreens she wouldnt even offer one up. They look so much nicer than the aviva and so much more compact !!!

I have dropped a ton of test strips trying to load them lol!!

Yeah, I got away from the test-strip thing right away. The pharmacy gave me a Bayer Contour kit and then charged medicare for the 50 strips. I got tired of dropping strips everywhere and told my PA I needed something better. He bumped me up to a Breeze2 meter with the 10-strip disc. Didn't like the erractic readings of the Breeze2 so I called Accu-Chek, told 'em I'd like to try out their Compaq Plus as it had a 17-test-strip drum. That was last December...so maybe their giveaway program's been tightened up.

I was at Walmart Tuesday looking for a Bayer A1cNOW+ kit and noticed they had the Accu-Chek Compaq Plus on sale for $18. I don't see it online so you may have to call your local Walmart to see if they stock them. Expensive test drums...so you might take that into consideration.

I use the accu-chek software and find it really good. You can print out charts and graphs etc. Really confuses my doctor, you can see by the look on his face that he has no idea what he is looking at.

Did you happen to email me about this software?

Someone emailed me from the forum, and I cleared out all my old messages and I forgot who it was.

I am not making this a PM in case that person happens to read this.

I can't praise accu-chek highly enough for their customer services. They are always so polite. My infa-red device has broken and I like that more than the smartpix, which the gave me free of charge. Anyhow I phoned them this morning and they are sending me out a complete new infa-red kit. Guess how much-------- free of charge again. What excellent service, which can be rare these days.

I emailed them about their software asking how to get it (hoping they'd send it to me free of charge) and they told me I had to pay £19.99 for it!!

I've yet to reply and tell them that unfortunatly for them I will be force to continue using my LifeScan Ultrasmart meter, because I have free software for that, so I wont be purchasing any of their rather expensive strip cassettes for my new accu-chek mobile meter. Which is a shame because I really do like my new meter
