That would be your good friend, the liver, helping you out for having the nerve to sleep in. It's called, dawn phenomenon. Around here, we call it DP. The liver is helping you get ready for your day and it dumps glucose in to your system to give you energy. Nice, huh? Seriously though, it can happen any time in the middle of the night whether one sleeps in or not but some people do find that there is a price to pay (higher fasting number) when they sleep in.

90 for me this morning and I'm headed out to walk here in a few. Gonna be a hot one today in CA.

102 this morning. Saw it coming last night, when I had a 110 at bedtime. (That's what happens when I eat an entire half-pound burger patty for dinner. Too much protein.)

Anyway, have a great day everyone.
I just bought a Relion last week because I needed to supplement my 100 test strips bought by insurance. I've heard others say the Relion does this for them, too. Thanks for the heads-up. I upped one unit of insulin last night and this morning was what I was looking for: 86. YAY!

7.1/127. But I went low last night and then was afraid to bolus because of that. I slept at 7.3 and woke up at 7.1, so at least I know my night basal is not giving me lows, haha.

Oh, and I found "gold": 1 forgotten tube of OneTouch test strips. Score! That saved me buying more until the ones I already ordered arrive.

The same thing I did this week; found them after I went and bought a Relion and 100 strips... UGH!

Then, double score: I went to get my Levemir, and the drugstore manager said if I need strips, he'll give me a bottle of AccuChek strips for the price of the FreeStyle one cause they only have 6 months in the expiration date and aren't moving.

By mid-August, I believe. But better in August than never. They asked for a paper that will take me 30 days to get before I can even apply. Then when I apply, it is another 30 days.

The free strips, first batch, should be this Thursday or the other Thursday at the most, though. So that already halves my expense, when it happens.
