      A1C test thread

My new A1c is 5.3. I'm happy with that. I really thought it would be higher considering the higher numbers I've been dealing with. My last test was a little over 4 months ago so I'm not sure if it has stayed the same as the last test because I have a 4 month test instead of a 3 month test. But no matter, I am quite happy with it. Less to worry about is a good thing.

Congratulations, that is an excellent result.

My last A1C went up from 5.2 to 5.4, but I am not too worried. Life happens. I think my next one will be better.

My endo would tell you that your test is essentially the same as it was the last time. He said that A1c tests are not perfect but the statistical difference between a 5.4 and a 5.2 is basically zero. So it appears that your A1c did not go up.

June 26th, my A1C was 10.1. I happened to be at the internist today and on the lab form, I asked him to check off for another A1C. I know it takes 3 months to see the real result but does anyone think I might see even a small drop from the prior A1C after a perfect month of eating and numbers? I did the test (among others) but tonight I'm thinking if there's no change, I'll feel frustrated for no reason.

If you've been having improved numbers on your meter, I believe that you will see a positive change on your new A1c. While the test gives a look at the past three months or so, A1c's are more heavily weighted to more recent numbers.

      Mia, great job there.

I go back to endo August 15th, my last A1c was a 6.0...lowest i've ever had since diagnosis 12 years ago. The one before that was 6.3 and one before that was 6.8. So the past year I have made major improvements b/c before this year i was always in the 8's on average. Anyway i go back on 15th and I've been having some unexplained highs (very frustrating and hard on myself for it!) the past month so expect it to go up a bit from the 6.0 but I am ready to accept that and know It'll be better next time
