Has anyone had the back light and strip light go out ? Other than that the meter works fine. I got it on 5-24-05 I will be calling them soon, I was just wondering if anyone has had this happen.

I've had the backlight go out when the batteries got low. Have you tried to replace them?

No I have not done that yet. I was not even thinking of the batteries. I emailed Abbotts after waiting on hold for 32min after being told it would only be 8min. I will see what they say, and then try the batteries. Thanks

I got one Flash meter that wouldn't light the screen even with new batteries. It would light the strip. the replacement meter works fine. Speaking of Freestyle, I just got done reading (and listening) to this link on the Navigator:
http://www.diabetes-symposium.org/in...nu=view&id=152

From all that I saw, it's going to be more to my liking than the MM Guardian RT, as it uses predictive alarms, which is what I've been anticipating in a CGMS ever since I got my first meter in the 90's.

the strip light on the first one only worked once, the back light...no problem. I haven't used it on the new one yet. I hope it does.

I had that happen. And it wasn't the battery. They sent me a new meter.

Thanks all. I did send them an email, and just waiting for a response. I will post it once I get it for others who may have this happen.

Well below is the email I got from them, looks like I will have a new meter today

Quote:
Dear Mr. Eggeman,

Thank you for contacting Abbott Diabetes Care, maker of FreeStyle and
Precision products.

Your meter is absolutely under warranty and we can definitely replace
it
for you. We will need to ask that you return the meter you have there
back to us as well. You will receive a replacement meter in a new box,
with instructions on how to return the old meter in the same box.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Andrew
Abbott Diabetes Care

Abbotts sent me a FREE Data Cable and a Precision Link Direct v2.6 Software CD for my computer. I called and asked them why they sent it to me, as all I wanted was my back light to work. They told me that their product failed and I had to go without a back light for a few days so this was their way of saying sorry. Was not expecting that

now thats customer service, everyone knows they make all the money on the strips, and they seem to want to keep people happy, if only some other companies would stand up and take notice.... I have used abbot meters since the old precesion QID, and every time I have had a problem they alway sent a new one out the next day.... the only thing I really miss the the QID pen they had, that was great.....
