| | | Universal Test Strips I know that the companies are making the money on the meters with the strips that are only to be used with the same brand meter, but I hope someone wisens up and comes out with a universal strip.
When hubby runs out of strips and that only happened once, I realized that it would have been a whole lot easier to just borrow a strip or two from my friend and not the whole kit and kaboodle.

| | Hi Seeker and Welcome. I hope you like it here and get some
answers to your questions.
Ya, I thought of that years ago since I like to use different meters
just to make it more interesting. If they all used the same strips that
would make it easier like if you ran out of strips for one meter but still
wanted to use it, then just take the strips from your other meter.
That won't happen since many of the meters have different sized slots,
just so no one can do that. Each Company has to make money you
know.
What kind of meter does your Hubbie use?

He has the Ascensia Contour. My friend happened to have one just like it and she gave it to us. So, we now have 2. He keeps one in his car, he's a cabbie, and we keep the other in the house. We keep all the readings in one booklet. I think it works out well...he thinks otherwise...lol

Seeker | Well, that was nice of your Friend. Ya, my Friend has the Contour
and 2 of the Breeze. He likes them. That's a Great idea to have 2 of
the same meter in case something happens to one. Plus with the same 2
meters usually the results are the same(or extremely close), so you feel
better about that also. The booklet a good idea also. You's are doing
Very well getting in line with this Disease. Good for you.
Yes, I'm sure he is Thrilled about the whole thing. LOL.
Oh and Thank You for looking after Hubby by the way. I know it's a
big job.

Seeker | Unfortunately, this will not happen, at least until there is a revolution. The entire industry is step up to make its money on the recurring sale of strips; that why they give meters away.
If someone "wised up", became human, 1) theu would be fired, or 2) sued for patent infringment, or 3) taken over in the name of "shalholder values". Likely all of the above. |

| | | It seems to me that back in the mid to late 80's I saw an ad for a reusable test strip. I believe you had to change the strip every 30 days or something like that although. I know it sounds odd but I do remember the ad and trying to find that strip and meter although I never saw it in the small stores I shopped at.
