Has anyone else used the Walgreens brand monitor? My readings have been lower lately and I have reduced my carbs. I guess I should invest in a second monitor but the strips are so expensive.

I haven't used that brand before, but I know where you are coming from when it comes to costs for test strips. You wouldn't think that those little things could be soooo **** expensive..... If you are looking for another meter though, don't buy one, whatever you do. There are lots of resources out there that you can get a free meter from. Just ask your dr or CDE. Also, if you do a search on here for free meters, you will find LOTS of threads on it.

I use the freestyle flash, and it is a great meter I love it The test strips are still pricy, but it is easy to use, and small, so it is easy to carry with you.

yes I have seems ok ,also used RITE AID they wer cheaper and work very well

Gabby the less carbs, the lower you will run. This is not necessarily a bad thing just a sign that you may need to reduce your dose of insulin.
I feel u on the cost. I know the One touch Ultra runs a lot of rebate offer where u end up paying $0 for the meter, but the strips are what get us.

If you have an Endo they usually have meters there for their patients, doesnt hurt to ask.

That Walgreens meter is just a meter that you see a lot, just branded to other pharmacies and stores. I believe Eckerds has the same one. I have never used it.. but maybe someone else has, and they don't realize it.
