Byetta seems to be helping me

I just wanted to let everyone know how I have been going on Byetta. It has been 29 days since i started I've lost some weight 2.3 kilos last week (didn't have scales that worked before then)
After a few days on it I would serve up my main meal at night and only eat 3/4 of it. I'm not looking for food. My blood sugars have come down and are rarely over 10mmols
My Hb1c was 9 in November and last week it was 8.4 (It would have improved in the last month as before then I was reading over 10)
My feet are no longer swollen and I'M FEELING GOOD
I've been lucky no real side effects.(my husband is still waiting for me to start eating insects and grow scales)
On Sunday i start on 10 mgs of Byetta.
I rang my Diabetes educator today and made his week He only knows one other person on Byetta (it is a new drug over here and is not subsidised by the Goverment yet)
So had no feedback
This forum is also very inspiring and I wish I had found it years ago.
Take care from alicat61

I've been taking Byetta for a year now. I had two A1c tests that were over 10 in a row (10.4, then 10.3) and my Doctor put me on 5mg for the first month, and 10mg ever since then. My next two A1c tests were 8.3 and 7.1 so i thought I was doing ok. But then I got a 9. So don't make the same mistake I did. Watch those carbs and calories...

I think for me the one negative about Byetta is that it does give you more "wiggle room" as far as eating carbs. I have to be very diligent with my diet, as I know that with the Byetta, I can have more carbs (though not more food) without noticeable rise in blood sugars.

That's great that Byetta is working for you. I am also looking to byetta or symlin (the generic Byetta) in order to lose weight. I have not started it yet, and actually am still hoping to convince my endo to let me use it. I don't have trouble with after-meal highs, just want to lose weight to be healthier. It's encouraging to hear you're happy with it!

I don't think that Symlin is the generic of Byetta... I could be wrong. My understanding is that they are similar in use, but not the same thing...

Glad to hear the Byetta is working for you! I too am doing well now that I am back on Symlin, if only I could get over the mild nausea...

Hi
Just to update my progress with Byetta I had my next Hb1c done last Friday and it is now 7.2 I'm so happy.
On the down side my blood sugars have been a bit all over the place. Don't really no why.but that is the nature of the beast Shift work doesn't help I know
but i have to live with that also.
