Has anyone taken Levaquin along with your diabetic meds?

Last Thursday I did the usual follow up with the Physician Assistant this time at my ENT's office. She did the echo of my sinuses and then detected fluid in my left side. Sent me down the hall for a sinus CT to confirm and came back with antibiotic time. The only one that I've taken without bad side effects in the past has been Levaquin. She didn't mention to me that this could affect the Glimeperide--I have seen the lowest numbers as yet since my diagnosis but feel lightheaded etc..alot. I wasn't feeling so hot once the Glimeperide started to work, but am trying to brave this out. For how long I don't know.

Has anyone been on any sort of antibiotic that interacted with your diabetic medication?

I have taken Levaquin before and couldn't tell any difference in my blood sugars; however, some of our diabetic patients have mentioned their blood sugars are lower on various antibiotics. Not sure if its because they were higher because of the infection and when it resolves on antibiotics their blood sugars normalize or if it is the medication itself doingit.

My mom takes metaphormin, and she is just now finishing up a round of leviquin. No affects on blood sugar, but the lightheadedness and stomach upset haven't been any fun.

Thanks for the replies, my numbers were down from when I first started, in the 90's after supper and around 104 in the mornings. I wasn't sick like I usually am with a sinus infection, it seems to always start with a stuffy nose. I've been doing nasal rinses, etc..so I was surprised when the PA found the fluid. She initially wanted to give me Avelox, then Cipro and had gotten very sick with the Avelox and the Cipro had it's own side effects so I asked for the Levaquin. I was almost thinking that perhaps the Januvia irritated my sinuses, I was fine before taking that medication. Who knows? I put a call in to my primary..I'll see what he says.
