| | | First few days on Byetta... I took my first dose of Byetta Saturday evening.
The good: The needles truly don't hurt. I can see it going in my skin, can hardly feel a thing.
I've had some very mild nausea, but nothing too bad, thank goodness!
The bad: Even waiting 45 minutes after injecting, I can't tell a significant difference in my appetite. I'm consciously trying not to eat too much, but don't have the full feeling others have described.
The potentially ugly: My post-meal numbers are not significantly lower. They were at 91 yesterday, but I'd taken a short walk, which may have factored into it.
I'm wondering if a) I haven't been taking it long enough to see the full effects; b) I'll just need to bump up my dosage to 10 mcg, or c) I'm one of those lucky people for whom it does not work. I hope it's A or B.

| | | Did you prime your pen before the first dose? If you don't see that good stream shoot out, you may not be getting the full dose.
For me, I noticed a significant drop in post-meal #s with the first shot. I'm still on 5 mcg, and if I eat a really low carb meal, its not unusual for the post meal #s to be in the
70-80 range.
I think a 2 hr post-meal # of 91 is great! How were your post-meal #s BEFORE Byetta?
BTW, if the 5 mcg don't work well for you, you can always try the 10mcg..others have said 10 mcg really curbed their appetite.

| | | Yep, primed it and saw the stream shoot out. Was afraid it hit the kitty on the nose! LOL. But it didn't. I'm also seeing a drop of the medicine on the needle after injection, and I always hold it in for a slow count of 5. (1 Mississippi; 2 Mississippi).
A 91 is not terribly unusual if I've been for a walk in the 2-hour window. Not common, but not unheard of. I'll have to try doing a really low-carb meal and see what happens.
With my first shot, I'd eaten spaghetti, but it was Dreamfields and that normally doesn't bother me, anyway. PP was 120. Four hours later, 120. Bleah. But again, that was Saturday.
I'm a worrier, though, and it may be that it's working--just not as quickly as I want it to. LOL.

| | | Looks like I'm just a worrier, which I knew. LOL. My 2-hour PP this afternoon was 109, some 5 hours after my Byetta dose, and a 28-carb meal. Woo-hoo! My 4 hour PP for breakfast was 87. 109 last night 2 hours PP after a burger and some fries. Now THOSE are the kinds of numbers I want to see!
Thank the Lord, I've not had anything other than a very mild "oogy" feeling a couple of times. Hope that continues!

| | My endo is pretty aggressive where this disease is concerned. Also, he's thinking about the weight loss potential, and I have a ways to go in that department, although I have had weight loss since January. Many people have lost astonishing amounts of weight while taking this drug. And we all know, getting the weight off for a T2 just automatically improves control and that helps prevent other complications.
However, in just a few days, it's brought my PP numbers waaay down, which I know is better for me. My goal is to come off all medication in the next 18-24 months, and if being on this now helps me get to that point eventually, I'll do it! I'm greedy. I WANT that 4.9 A1C. LOL. Dunno if I'll ever get there, but it does give me something to work towards.
Go, you lizard spit, go!

| | | I didn't feel the appetite curbing effects until I upped the dose to 10mcg. I also totally love Byetta.
