Side effects of Janumet

I have been on Janumet for about a week now and am newly diagnosed with type 2. I have had diarrhea all during that time. I can barely get away from the bathroom and have had several accidents. How long can I expect this side affect to last? What can I take for it other than Imodium?

According to Janumet's website:

Quote:
Stop taking JANUMET and call your doctor right away if you get any of the following symptoms of lactic acidosis:

You feel very weak and tired.

You have unusual (not normal) muscle pain.

You have trouble breathing.

You have unexplained stomach or intestinal problems with nausea and vomiting, or diarrhea.

You feel cold, especially in your arms and legs.

You feel dizzy or lightheaded.

You have a slow or irregular heart beat.

I know metformin causes gastric issues for some people. When I took it, I found that there was a correlation between the amount of "greasy" foods I ate and the gastric problems.

That being said, if your symptoms aren't improving, you should definitely check with your doctor, as you may be one of the individuals unable to tolerate it. There are other options.

I'll give you credit you lasted longer on the Janumet than I did LOL...I lasted a day after increasing to two pills a day. I spent the entire time clinging to the bathroom doorknob, was not a pleasant time and thankfully have been changed to another med.
