| I took Glucophage (metformin ER) with no problems, stopping only when I started Byetta.
The Glucophage will help your body better utilize the insulin you're producing. ER is for extended-release. It just means that it takes longer for it to reach its daily peak than regular metformin...which to many means less problems with potential gastric side effects.
Along with regular exercise, this should help keep your #s stable.
