Smile Interaction: Diabetes and Zoloft

Hi all. I am new to this forum. I would like to know if Zoloft causes an increase in blood sugar. Any one out there using Zoloft? It appears my use of Zoloft with my meds create an increase.

Thanks,
Gregnruth

Zoloft may prevent recurrence of depression in patients with diabetes

There is a ton of info out there but this was the best related to what you asked.

Hope it helps,
Cass

that link didn't work for me Cass.

I have this same issue going on in my head with Seroquel - which i know raises blood sugar. this is a hard call to make, but I am taking the Seroquel (at the moment)

For the most part news links are okay to link to.

Nothing at Medline Plus mentions increased bg's. Under special precautions it does mention "oral medications for diabetes such as tolbutamide (Orinase)."

I did not find that Zoloft increased my BG; in fact, that's around the time my BG started dropping dramatically. I had made some dietary changes around that time, but I also think the Zoloft helped me with my stress levels, which in turn lowered my BG. Average FBG went from 124 to 78.

But YMMV. If you can eliminate all other causes of raised BG, maybe Zoloft isn't the right drug for you. Good luck!
