Yep two coworkers had it here (out of 10 people), last week. It was not so bad, for them ... but I am exposed, now ... Last flu I had was almost 2 yrs ago, so not much protection from that.

Absolutely not. The only time in my life I've gotten full-blown flu is the one year I decided to get a vaccine. On top of which, my school got hit by swine flu during the spring outbreak. 3 of my own students came down with it -- students I see every stinking day. I didn't get so much as a sniffle.

If I get it, I get it. I think that stuff about diabetics being three times as likely to die is a little....paranoid. Lots of people die from the flu -- people who don't go to the doctor or hospital when it becomes necessary, most of the time. I've got my husband, his family, and mine around me to convince me to go to the doctor IF I get the flu and IF it becomes serious. Thankfully, I also have good health insurance, so I won't be hemming and hawing about going to the ER if necessary.

Humans were meant to get sick. That's why we have immune systems. Trying to hide from every single disease -- especially ones like swine flu which are, in effect, bad colds is... staggering to me.

The "suck" part about it is that with the antibiotics and such that are coming out these days, even the bugs themselves are getting more and more potent.

Pain in the arse. :P

I will probably not get it. I have had the regular flu shot and I think I am due for pneumonia shot this year. I will ask for that and for Tamaflu.

We did have a co-worker in my husband's company lose her life to H1N1 about a week ago. She got pneumonia and it took her life. She did have other health problems.

That's awful. I've not known of anyone who died from it.

I think if I have opportunity to take the vaccine, i'll take it, just as I did the Hepatitis vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine and the seasonal flu shot.

Either type of flu vaccine.

Art
There are up to 40% of the Doctors world wide have been documented that will not administer this shot.

If you read the Insert that comes with the Vaccine and Understand what is in it you too might become hesitant to take it or give it to anyone else.

Look, Research and understand what you are doing before giving this to your children or yourselves.

Yes there are a lot of Doctors that are informed.

What I'm reading is that it's the insurance companies who are playing their trump cards, saying they won't insure the docs who administer the shots.

that happened in colorado too, husband got sick, and then his wife got sick (both with h1n1) and then a week later she was dead, died a few hrs after being taken to the hospital, died of pneumonia as well

I'm not going to take the vaccine, and i'll go into hiding in a cave if someone tries to force me to take it!

There are actually many doctors on this side of the pond who are sceptical about the vaccine. There's just too little information about possible side effects and vaccinating a lot of people will according to many doctors be a big experiment on humans.

I've never had a confirmed flu, so i don't see a reason why i'd get the swine flu. Never taken a seasonal flu shot, and probably never will. I only have the basic vaccines from childhood, plus he one for hepatitis and that's it. Might take TBC vaccine sometime soon since it's become a bigger threat here again.

I've never been vaccinated against any type of flu or pneumonia. I don't currently intend to get any of them.

I believe in my Humble Opinion that they will use the Swine Flu Shot to actually spread this disease and cause many auto immune problems like crippling arthritis.

Those folks who are unfortunate to receive this shot will shed this virus for up to 96 hours spreading the stuff like typhoid Mary.

I also believe that they will use mass media to sway the public opinion to think and believe that those who do not receive the shot will be the cause of their loved ones that will die from the poison being pumped into their veins.

They will create a false shortage of vaccine and cause people to believe they just got to be one of those who get the vaccine.

I remember seeing the Toy Corporation stage 2 Mother's fighting over the last Cabbage Patch Doll in the past as well as those Elmo Dolls. You see they created the hype. Don't fall for it.

Obviously someone is going to loose alot of MONEY if the everyone refuses.

They will stoop to force then.

Wow, that is a scary thought, but the virus is not the live virus anymore, at least it isn't in the regular flu shot so I would think it wouldn't be for the H1N1 either. But, I have no idea. I am not getting anywhere near that thing!

As I understand it, the injectable versions are killed virus for both regular and H1N1. The spray (FluMist) versions are live virus.

From Time magazine:

Quote:
... pregnant women, anyone under 2 or over 49 and those with an underlying condition like heart disease, asthma or a compromised immune system should not get the spray vaccine. But the injectable version, made from the killed influenza virus, is approved for everyone 6 months old and up.
