| | Osiris: Prochymal Hey everyone! I got exciting news today. After extensive testing I have been accepted for a study at the University of Texas Southwestern for the new infusion Prochymal. Basically I will be getting 3 infusions of adult stem cells. I am part of a pretty exclusive club of 60 nationwide type 1's! I am so excited to be a part of the CURE! Is anyone else here taking part in this study?

| | | Congratulations! Hopefully you are placed in the treatment arm of the study, not the placebo group. |

| | | Placebo My attitude about the placebo is that either way I will be helping to advance science. I just think of all the others that could benefit from this study!

Yes, exactly. Years ago I participated in a few non-clinical human studies and it was quite interesting. I was working in research at the time and felt it was a good thing to do, so did it. It did give me a different perspective on clinical trials and I would be quite willing to do it again for about anything I qualify for.

The local weekly, "The Reader," is full of ads seeking people to participate in tests of treatments for diabetes (at least, the ones that aren't for lasik or plastic surgery).

| | First Infusion Well, I had my first infusion of Prochymal, adult stem cells today! It was great, everyone at the clinic was so nice! The only thing that bothers me is the taste. It has DMSO in it and if anyone has ever smelled the topical, just imagine that taste in your mouth. So we shall see what happens, maybe I will start to need less insulin, maybe not? Only time will tell.

| | | Having my MRI Friday, Doc gave me Lortab, Motrin, and Robaxin, plus a lifting profile. It's killing me! I will keep everyone posted on the study.
