I love watching/listening t the drug ads just for the disclaimers...yikes. I'm on a med now that has a potential for "sudden death". Unfortunately in my case the risk is overshadowed by the damage of not taking it. Arrrggghhh.

This is a screenshot of a commercial for Crestor; the disclaimer says that it has not been shown to prevent heart disease or heart attacks.

Why is it recommended that we take statins..?

Is the point simply to lower cholesterol (which is vital to human health) or are we attempting to lower our risk of heart attacks and strokes which is -- unfortunately - what kills most folks with Type 2 D.

So if statins can't promise that -- but do carry risks -- what is the benefit to us..? Is it just that our Doctor's may be happier 'cos our LDL is lower..? I want more reason than that thank-you.
