I am on Avapro HCT, which is a blood pressure med but also protects diabetic kidneys from damage. I have had no discernable side effects from it. Perhaps your GP had your kidneys in mind as well as BP? Avapro HCT is Irbesartan plus Hydrochlorothiazide. I don't know what the others you mention contain.

I just changed BP meds from Lisinipril to Losartan and it's not working by itself. Why would it only take 5 mg of Lisinipril (can't stand the side-effects) and then Losartan at 100 mg is not working? I do take a diuretic. What else can be added to help? I'm noticing it's the bottom number that is the biggest problem. I don't feel well at all with my BP over 117/72.

      Hi TS!
I don't know anything about Lisinipril or Losartan so I can't speak to those specifically. I take 40 mg of Benicar (which at one point wasn't doing a great job of control). When the doctor told me I could switch to 150 mg of Diovan I was surprised but she explained that the two doses of the different medications were equal. In other words, for me, Benicar 40mg=Diovan 150 mg. I never made the switch but I'm wondering if perhaps it's a similar thing? When I have a specific medication question, I usually call my pharmacist who's a great resource.
Other than that, I hope you're feeling better.

That does make sense. going to the doctor at 3 so will ask her then. I'm okay but need to get this straightened out before leaving tomorrow for a few days. Where did our thread go? YIKES!
      Later.
