Trials with many medications are just not done on small children, unless they are a particular "audience" for a drug, for practical reasons, costs, etc.
It is my understanding that these insulins, because they are of recombinant DNA origin, can not be diluted with distilled water. That would make accurate dosing in the smalll amount your child needs difficult.
It must be very difficult for you and your child, my heart goes out to you. There are other parents in the forum, some also with very young children, who may be able to help and support you more directly that I. There are also some young adults who have been diabetic from a young age who can provide their perspective.
