| | | 3 different readings on my tester???? I am confused, I typically get three different readings within one minute of use on my tester? is this normal? I am not sure what to believe anymore?
what is the best and most accurate testing unit to use? I have no faith in the unit anymore. i got a second unit acc-check and the same occurs there as well.
thanks |

| | | That's perfectly normal. So often we get focussed on that one number and fail to realize there's a sizeable variance. It makes it all that more imporant to do the testing properly: clean dry ahnds and enough blood on the strip are two that get me.

| | | This is quite common with all the meters i've ever had. However, I generally only test once each time unless I get an "odd" reading, one that is much higher or lower than i've anticipated.
Also, Welcome to the forum..tell us a little about yourself.

| | | I recently did a test using three different meters:
175
145
135
I've used the same meter with blood from different fingers and gotten similar results.
Your results don't surprise me. The meters aren't very reliable for absolute measurements.

| | | I am glad to see this discussion. The different readings are troubling because I am pre-diabetic and really need to watch those numbers. Seeing 113 then seeing 127 within a minute makes me crazy.

Watch averages and trends over a longer term where the anomalies can even out. I sometimes graph my numbers. You can use something like Microsoft Excel to graph your daily fasting numbers over time. Tends and anomalies will be evident.

| | | Timely for me also.. I have been getting some wide swings in my readings and then I had a test done by a hospital lab that was way different than I get, so who to believe? I knocked my meter, "One Touch" off the table one day a few weeks ago and wondered if it could possibably be effecting it.. A test strip came out right in the center of the range it was supposed to be however..
On those three readings I wondered if your somehow hitting the button that gives the average for the week and month? I guess your talking about taking three seperate test within a few minutes of each other.. My previous meter seemed to range a lot wider on test taken consecutively where as this one touch usually comes in a few points of the previous reading. |

| | | I just tried the same, but only 2 tests (I'm paying a lot for strips).
I used the same drop of blood tested about 10 seconds apart.
One-Touch Horizon meter:
Strip #1 118
Strip #2 126 |

| | | How different are the three readings on your meter? If they are all within a plus/minus 15 percent range, your meter is OK. That range of variance is OK according to US FDA. But if one number is 200 and another is 70, there's a problem somewhere. |

| | | This is fine. Your numbers are within 15 percent of each other. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
