I'm confused about my readings

I was tested for diabetes last week. My Dr. said my readings are normal. My fasting glucose is 98 and my AC-1 was 6.

From what I have read it seems my fasting glucose is normal but I'm reading conflicting opinions on the AC-1. Is this within normal range? Or should I find a different Dr.?

Normal A1C ranges from 4.5 to 5.9, but there is error built into it as with any test. You are definately borderline. Take it as a warning to do the things you need to do: eat well, exercise regularly, and control your weight.

So, would I be considered pre-diabetic? Should I find another Dr. who is more informed with the current charts?

If you want to, but there's no need. You are not a clear-cut case. Even if you were diagnosed, the treatment is the same: lifestyle changes. Put your energy there.

A second opinion never hurts. You could also ask the doctor to redo the tests just to confirm the results of the first and make you feel a bit more secure in where you currently stand.
