| | | Are thyroid and hormones effected? My Endo says my hyperthyroid and fluctuating testoserone levels are a result of insulin resistance. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I really haven't see much on this so any help would be great. Thanks. |

| | | I've been doing some reading on this subject due to my own situation. To the best I can ascertain, it seems that there is a disproportionate number of people with diabetes who develop thyroid problems, but they don't believe there is a direct causal effect. The belief is that one problem in the endocrine system makes the likelihood of another problem more likely. Med-speak for "we don't know what the exact relationship is?" |

| | | Oh, as far as testosterone ... YES. Insulin bind to sex-hormone binding globulin, displacing testosterone ... ?
Considering the role of testosterone in polycystic ovarian syndrome, though (it is masculinizing) ... not sure how it affects men.
PS zoe ... I had hypoT years before. Have read high levels of T4 can lead to Insulin Resistance?
Endo is VERY complex.

| | | Very complex indeed! Thank you ALL for your responses.
Funny Foxl that you mentioned Hashimoto's because that's what I was originally diagnosed with.
Have a great weekend everyone. |
