Secondary Diabetes

Hi guys, haven't posted for some time, was a bit busy!

Went to see my Endo for the first time on the 13th of Oct. She reckons the Pre-D that they picked up is secondary diabetes, because I don't have any of the other risk factors at this stage.

She did some blood tests to test for tumors on my adrenal glands as well as some or other gland in the back of my neck of which the name totally escapes me

I'm seeing her again on the 3rd of Nov for the results. She said that I must also do a OGTT in Nov again because the previous one was in June. Thinking about asking her to test for LADA while she's busy, even if it is only to give me peace of mind!

Have any of you had/have secondary diabetes? I've read up on it and apparently it's very rare (only 2% of diabetes is secondary).

Does he have any suspicion as to what other condition it might be secondary to?

Sounds like adrenal or thyroid, or perhaps parathyroid, problems?

She's thinking in the direction of tumors on the adrenal glands or parathyroid

I just read an article abstract on pubmed about vitamin D deficiency, hypoparathyroidism and insulin resistance.

Associations of Serum Concentrations of 25-Hydroxy... [Diabetes Care. 2009] - PubMed result

which was why it came to mind so fast.

I read the article now, and she definitely tested for PTH levels, as well as Vitamine D (bone density), Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphate I think. On a previous blood test my Calcium levels were very low.
