| | | I pulled a good one yeseterday Oh Boy
well let me see how I am gonna explain this.....lol
My son (Levi, who's picture is my avatar) started kindergarten and yesterday was his first full day. My husband works third shift so my son is leaving for school when my hubby is coming home.
My husband (Mike) came in and took a shower and ate breakfast.then he wanted ummm some lovin.. I took my pump off...and then after that I went outside and mowed the yard...
To make a long story short I forgot to put my pump back on after my wifely duties....uh oh
I got to feeling pretty lousy about half way though mowing so I decided to check my sugar..looked down and realized what happened...I am such and idiot..
When I checked my sugar it had shot up to 319. I am glad I found it when I did.
Has anybody ever done that? boy that is sure scary..I bet I checked to see if I had it on 50 times that rest of the day.....lol

| | Usually when I do the whole lovin thing (which by the way hasn't been in 2 years) I tend to go low and then to add mowing to the whole ordeal would've had me in the kitchen looking for anything and everything to eat.
Now on the other hand after showering I have left my pump and went right on to work or to do some errands and totally freaked. After that I knew my day was going to be bad afterall there was going to be no lunch and surely no coffee.

Basically the only time my pump is removed is for showering and I never forget to reconnect after drying off. |

| | The mental picture here!!!! My eyes are burning Spike!!! Seriously, I have left my pump sitting on the counter more than once and ended up waking up to numbers over 350.
Chalk it up to experience. We have all done it (left the pump off I mean) hehehehe. Some of us more than once |

| | I forgot to put my pump back on after a shower getting ready for work...once. And of course, I had to go to a remote site, and not to my normal office only 45 minutes away. And of course, I had my pen but forgot the pen needles. What a morning.
However, somehow I think edna got some decent lovin' or something.

| | | Early on, last summer, I forgot to reconnect my pump but it was after showering, not anything more exciting unfortunately! I took my shower, got dressed (I was eating breakfast at work most days then so didn't need to bolus at home) and then had to go a few blocks away to a friend's apartment to feed his cats. When I was done I looked at the clock and thought the time was off. I don't wear a watch, so I pulled out the pump to check the time. No pump. I ran all the way home, reconnected the pump and ran back out, back past my friend's building and on to my bus stop. Made it just in time and checked my BG. It was only in the high 200's. I think I had been disconnected for about 90 minutes.
One other time, after taking a shower, I lay back down on my bed for a few minutes and that turned into a 90 minute nap. I had a BG in the low 300's after that.
This is why I actually do suspend the pump when I shower. I have never forgotten to reconnect after hearing the pump beeping.

| | | Two times last week I had trouble like this and wound up going all night without basal insulin. Once I didn't reconnect it (quickset) properly and it didn't deliver. The other time I forgot to resume delivery after the shower. I think I'll try for more morning showers so that I have all day to figure out a mistake like that.
Surprisingly, I only reached 250 after 6-7 hours without insulin. I guess the active insulin got me pretty far.

| | | I haven't removed a pump for sex in years. It's part of me. If she can't deal with it, maybe it's her that needs to change. |
