| | | Wasted Hole I did a set change this morning with a waking bg of 91. Forgot to eat breakfast and had a protein only lunch, which I bolused for. Before lunch I was 128 (had coffee) and after lunch 150. Took 2 corrections, once after the 128 and once after the 150. An hour later, when I noticed no improvement in bg and after changing out my reservoir, I decided to change my set. Sure enough, within a 1/2 hour my bg was starting to return to normal. The cannula was not bent upon inspection after removal. I can only chalk it up to using a 6 mm cannula on a fattier part of my abdomen. Guess I have to stick with the 9 mm cannulas for those areas. |

| | | We have stopped using the 6mm for Melissa because she has gained a little weight. We used both sizes depending on where we put the set. It had gotten to the point where I just didn't trust a set when we used the 6's, because we had problems with about 1 out of 4. She has a small waist and used to have problems with the 9's hitting muscle when using sites above the waistline. |

| | | I use the sixes and have had trouble a few times lately. I'm pretty darn lean, but I never know if it's going to be a totally bad site, marginal or good one. The one I just changed out seemed like it was good enough to deliver about half the insulin properly. I corrected a lot and kept it under 200, but when I have a bent cannula or something it's no insulin and in a few hours I can get up to 400. I have to admit, that makes me mad.
I hate leaving for work or going to bed and not knowing whether the site is good or not. I called MM and asked for an alternative, but ended up getting the short Sils which were kind of scary and included more tenderness and a more obvious red mark. I am still trying to figure out how to get some other alternatives. Right now my insurance is working really well in paying for stuff from Walgreens Homecare. I don't know if I'll need a prescription to get something outside the MM sphere.

| | | This is the first time I've had a problem with the 6's. I did inject into some scar tissue, so perhaps that contributed to the problem. |

It is only for Paradigms I think. Look for it under the paradigm supplies, not infusion sets on the Minimed site. A lot of the parents are using them for kids on the ADA board. It's a straight in steel set. |

| | | I've heard about sure-ts and I think I'll see if I can get some in my next order. I took down the item number so I can reference it.
Cyborg are your insets for the paradigm?

| | | I use an Animas. Have you seen the Insets? Each comes with it's own inserter and is disposable in the trash. |

| | LMAO, I'm still laughing at the title of this thread!!
I sometimes notice oddities when using different lengths of cannulas/needles. It also depends on where I put them....

| | | So does the 9mm version help? I am still using the 6mm ones and have been needing a lot more insulin lately. However, if I inject using a pen, my blood sugars seem to lower much faster. Does anyone know if Animas will give/let me buy a few 9mm insets? I'll call them tomorrow, but I don't really want to order 3 months worth of insets and not like the longer cannula length. Thanks. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
