Pumping to start soon :)

Eri had her advanced carb counting class yesterday...did well We fax in her 3 days worth of meals and all that stuff Monday and go from there.
Already spoke to minimed(since she's had the 715 sitting in a box since Nov/Dec of '04)...and we went through it and it's running fine(well, time and date and all the stuff b/f insulin)...
I believe she will be pumping before the end of November...can't wait ...and neither can she (I guess that's more important!)

Woohee, congrats! I hope this helps with at least some of the rough times Eri's been having.

Why did you wait so long since you had it since 04. I had to wait a week and I thought that was a long time.

Because we moved very suddenly and her endo in FL didn't think it would be a good idea to start her on it and have another endo follow her w/ it so soon into it. Also, when we moved here, she started getting really sick w/in the 2nd or 3rd week and it's been quite the ride since.

Her bgl's were going great until she came down w/ some virus(was at the doc's today) ...swollen glands and all that lovely stuff. Her throat, of course.
We have to call her ENT tomorrow...see about the tonsils, BUT, they think that the acid reflux is the reason for the tonsils being so yuck.

Gosh! The pump is exciting and I hope her current infection doesn't get in the way of that. Poor girl. I hope she recovers quickly and that pumping gives her better results and more freedom to be a kid.

Thanks all

Eri and I are EXTREMELY excited! Having to look at a pump for the past 2 yrs and NOT use it, that has been torture!
Eri recognized it out on the dining room table today and asked why it was out and I told her b/c I spoke w/ minimed and all is well with it
(it's the 715)...clear one...
Now I can go back to the minimed site and pick out the accessories for it(the harder case b/c she is such a clutz and I don't want her falling on it)...

Believe me, when we first rec'd this in '04, we couldn't stop looking at it and waiting for her to get on it...
Everyone's question(up here, since we moved here) was, "Why isn't she on the pump?"...I'm just so grateful that her endo is now doing it, regardless of her horrid HbA1c of 11.4. We're on top of it making sure it goes down...the lantus and novolog are working a lot better now ...plus, she's dealing w/ swollen glands and some virus right now so that isn't helping!)...

Shutting up!
