| | | Does Anyone have... The MM Paradigm Pump? Which one? Do you also have the continuous glucose monitoring system???
I am going to an info session on it in a couple days and I just wanted anyone here's insight into it. Problems you may have had with it, things you like about it! Any info would be great.
My last appointment when my dr. changed my insulin I asked him about it, and he said I just had to say the word. But at the time I was still a little iffy, NOW I want one really bad.
Thanks in advance!

| | | As far as I know, they are still not FDA approved to replace fingersticks, but still remain a valuable tool for trending, etc...

| | | I have the 722 with the CGMS, and it has been worth every dollar for me. I like that I can see long term trend info from any time period. It REALLY helps with DP, basal verification, and guarding against highs and lows. My control has NEVER been as tight as it is today. The pump alone got me into the 130's on average. Now with the CGMS, I have the confidence to get into the 80-90 range without the fear of going hypo, and I am averaging in that range ever since I got it. I have found 98% of the time, it is exactly what my fingerstick readings are, with the 2% being off by no more than 12%, and those are times when my BG is rapidly falling or climbing. I think it *COULD* be a replacement for *general* testing, you know, the old "I wonder what my BG is now" kind of test. I do test a little less, maybe 5-6 times a day, where I used to test 10-12 times a day. Calibration timing is KEY to it's accuracy. I generally calibrate as soon as I wake up, late afternoon before supper, and at bedtime, and those times are when I haven't eaten in 4+ hours when my BG is stable. But as always, YMMV.

| | I have the 722 pump, but not the CGMS. I'm gonna wait until my insurance will pay for it. I can't afford it on my own. Can't wait though.

| | My understanding is that CGMS is a separate device that sounds an alarm for highs and lows. Then you still have to test to confirm. Insurance companies won't conver them yet (except for extreme cases) and they are expensive.
My endo loves them, but I didn't have the money to shell out. I also HAVE to have a waterproof pump, so the mm was out although I really liked it. The remote was what almost swayed my decision.
If you go to the minimed website, they'll send you a big info packet, including stuff about CGMS, but its always better to hear from actual users.
Hope this helped at least somewhat though | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
