| | I'm joining the thigh club This morning I decided that I'd try my thigh for an infusion set. Inner thigh to be specific. So far so good with one exception....when I bolused for breakfast I felt for the first time the "bolus sting". Nothing severe, but I felt it. Otherwise I don't even feel like I'm wearing a pump. Just not sure how to sleep with it down that low.

| | | I am now using another site that seems to be working well for me. (haven't used my belly for about a month). If you put your hands on your hips with your fingers forward and your thumbs on your back....then go up about an inch with your thumb on your back, I am putting the canula in that area. It is still easy to remove for showers, but not in the way of pants or side sleeping. I am using this area (on the other side now) for the second time. it is working out very well. Makes sure you are below your ribs and above your waistband. |

Good thing if it works for you, because it was otherwise very comfortable and practical. |

| | Here's another vote for the "love handle" area. I find that I can squeeze about 3-4 sets in here before I need to move to another area and, like Nancy said, very comfy for clothes wearing and side sleeping!

| | | ****...I just did another bolus and it really stings in the thigh. Otherwise it's fine, perhaps the greatest place I've ever had one. Guess I'll just try another thigh area.

| | | Try going a bit higher on the thigh Injecto. I can only use my thigh if it is really really high up. The love handle area has worked out well for me and I don't have much meat there. I am long waisted so I have a lot of space. The only problem I have found is (whispers) bra on bra off. Be careful. |

| | | Hi Injecto! I've used my thigh for the last two site changes. I put it high on the front of my thigh. I thought that the inner thigh would be too sensitive. I remember trying to inject my Lantus there with the syringe and it really stung. Maybe the front, high up, will work for ya!

| | | The only place I can use on my thigh is the inner part and pretty high up. That area is not even suggested but it works for me. If I put it anywhere else on my thigh it usually gets quite painful for me and burns like the dickens. I think I'm going to man up and try my next set where you are Nancy. Right now it's currently sitting completely on my side and it is the least painful area for me. I'm going to make myself a promise to stay off my stomach for a month or more.

| | | I love thigh sites but.... I inserted a new site in the right outer, upper thigh yesterday evening had had the biggest gusher I've ever seen. I saw the tubing starting to fill with blood, looked at the quickset, and saw it's innards full of blood, so I had to pull it. I wish I had a towel handy when I did. It got all over the floor, all down my leg, it was just pouring out. I think I lost about a cup's worth running to the bathroom to get a towel. It took about 15 minutes to stop it from pouring out. I made a mental note to never use that area again. Today I have a swollen knot there and it's blue, and looks like a bulging vein of some sort. No redness or heat around it, but I will NOT insert in that area again. I have never had this problem on my left thigh. This is the 2nd time on my right thigh.

| | Funny you should talk about "sides". I am a right side girl. For some reason all of my sites do better on the right. Every time I put a canula on the left side of my body, I have a problem with soreness or infection. I have only had one infection, but it was on the left side. I started a thread awhile back about this subject. I often wondered why the left sided sites go bad quicker than the right sided ones. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
