It's a web based Java application, no installation involved. There's probably an issue with Vista's lack of drivers for the link to the meter.

Yep. You got it. Thats exactly what the minimed software guy was saying to me. I hope they figure it out soon. I do have software to install, which is what I was trying last night, but the website, for Carelink, will work until I hook my machine up, then it tells me that it is not compatible with my OS. Oh well.

Hey yall,

My educator said that it only works with IE6, not IE7 (the current version). I have two computers and after screwing up one with IE7, I left the other with IE6 (months before I even owned a pump), so I got lucky with this one.

Just a heads up.

Hi There...

I am new to the forum and it was actually my issues with the Carelink software and my frustration with Minimed that led to my discovery of this site... so I guess something positive was gained from the experience.

Anyways I just wanted to post an update and advise that according to the folks at Minimed an update should be available after June 16th to allow the software to function properly for those using Vista. Let's keep our fingers crossed.....................

Wow, I am happy to hear that. I really hope it does happen by then. I am so frustrated with having to still tote my pen and log book everywhere I go. I have been tweaking things around so much sometimes I forget to jot down every little tweak I make in my basals or my Ratios, so the Dr. can be quite confused sometimes when I just hand him my log book. Lets hope they fix it for us soon.

Talking Hooray! Here it is!

It worked for me!! Here's the instructions for using Carelink with Windows Vista:

If your PC is running the Windows Vista operating system, there are some additional steps to follow when you upload your device data to CareLink Personal. You only need to perform these steps for the first CareLink Personal device upload.

Open Internet Explorer, and navigate to Tools > Internet Options.

Click the Security tab.

Make sure the check box next to Enable Protected Mode is NOT checked.

Click OK.

Close Internet Explorer.

Navigate to Start > All Programs.

Right-Click on the Internet Explorer menu item.

Select Run as Administrator.

When the User Account Control window is displayed, click ALLOW.

Logon to CareLink Personal.

Upload your device(s). Click here for upload instructions.

Once you have successfully uploaded a device, reset the Internet Explorer security settings:

From Internet Explorer, navigate to Tools > Internet Options.

Click the Security tab.

Check the box next to Enable Protected Mode.

Click OK

Close Internet Explorer.

I know this is waaaay after the fact, but, In windows, you can use the user agent switcher addon in Firefox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/59) to fool carelink into thinking Firefox is IE and it works fine. I'm still experimenting with getting the USB connector to work under IE/wine and Firefox in Linux. Linux at least recognizes the device as Cypress Semiconductor USB to Serial so that's something to go on.

Minimed carelink had some additional notes for Vista users on the first download ! Here is the note I saw when I installed mine on XP !

Device uploads for Windows Vista users

Note: Once you complete an upload successfully, you do not need to repeat this process

I hope this solves your problem ! Dan

Carelink works just fine on my machine running Firefox. I just click CONTINUE under the warning that appears when I first access the site. I don't have the user agent add-on. I have had no glitches using Firefox for several weeks...knock on wood.

It's not necessary anymore. They added the continue button quite a while ago, but before that you had to use the useragent switcher.

This is exactly what I did and I am having GREAT success with carelink under vista, infact, all works as it should. my Ultralink uploads BGs to my pump, my pump uploads it's data to my PC via the carelink USB device and onto the carelink website where I generate the reports that my Endo LOVES!

So, MiniMed pump users, please read the above that our fellow pumper so generously provided, follow these simple steps and vanquish your frustrations, success is only a few mouse clicks and keystrokes away!
