| | | So irritated with Minimed at the moment. Okay, so today marks one week of pumping for me. Numbers have started to look better. I feel better. I am having a very irritating problem though. I recently bought a new computer. It is very nice, has everything I wanted to store photos and music, and do it very quickly. It helps when I am uploading photos to mail to my husband which is one of the only reasons we bought such a nice PC. Well today my uplink cord came for my BD monitor so that I could upload my numbers to carelink and make things a whole lot easier, so that I do not have to write everything down. That can be a huge pain in the a$$ sometimes. Well, I go to carelink, and hook up my meter, so that I can upload my numbers from the past week, and guess what. The darned site is not compatible with Vista. I don't understand. Not only do I have to keep IE on my PC only for the use of Carelink, because it will not run with Firefox, but now I have to wait a minimum of two months before I can even use IE to upload my data. I am at wits end. I have not had an easy first week with the pump anyway, and now to find out some of the little bells and whistles I was all excited about, I can't even use. GRRR. I am so ill right now.

| | | Don't blame MM...blame Microsoft. I'm still waiting 3 months for drivers for a video capture device that I use for a side job. The device is pretty expensive and we can't use it on our new $3000 Laptop until we get the proper drivers for it.

| | | The CareLink tools are pretty and all, but I don't really find any of them useful for my day-to-day needs. They will give you long term trend analysis.
If you have Office, create a spreadsheet and graph your numbers: carbs, BGs, bolus, basal, and adjustments. I find it much better for short term needs of basal profiling and bolus rate adjusting. If you want a sample, PM me and I'll email you MINE.
BTW your pump stores many months of data. You won't lose it.

| | | It just drives me crazy. I should only have to plug my meter up and upload and it all be there. My Dr. wanted to be able to just sign into Carelink and look at my numbers from time to time, and that would save me a trip to the Drs. office. Because he is a Military Dr. he is not allowed to give me his work email, and I am not sure he is comfy giving his patients his personal email addy. I absolutely hate Internet Explorer. I have been using Firefox for years, but they are not compatible with that either. I don't want to have to put forth extra effort. I did this to make life easier. I am already working full time, and trying to take care of my things, and all of my husbands things while he is away. One more thing I am going to have to do. bleh. The minimed rep just raved about how cool all of this stuff was, and now I have no access at all to it. I could make a spreadsheet, but why put in all of the extra effort, when I thought it was something that was going to be easily done with the Paradigm accessories. I don't know. I am just super frustrated.

| | | I know, I hate that it's IE only. I am a huge Firefox fan. I got Vista to recognize the cable/meter, but it would not interface with Carelink. They just did a facelift of the interface as well a few weeks ago. Maybe they'll get to work on it soon. I wish it'd work with Linux.

| | It wouldn't be better for you with the Cozmo either. I have Vista and can't use the new 1800 stuff on my laptop (nor could I use the old 1700 stuff...) Luckily we have about 20 computers for me to choose from in this house, but I'd rather just use my laptop!
I feel your pain. |

| | | I would post a link where all you people with Vista could get a temporary copy of XP, but I don't think this post would be here too long if I did that.
I only agree with pirating software when it's a situation like this where you got screwed by Microsoft. After all you do own a copy of Vista, which is the latest version of Windows.

Some folks obtain better control of their numbers using the CGMS and if a second insertion spot is needed for a sensor then I think the trade off is well worth it - IMO

Well, not necessarily better, but more stable. For example, I always used to have night time lows. Because of this, my HbA1c was always in the 5s. Now that I am not going low at night, I don't know if my a1c will be as good.
Having 2 sites is definitely better than having to test 20 times in a day to see a decent trend. I find it well worth the 2 sites. - IMO

After all you do own a copy of Vista, which is the latest version of Windows. | I was seriously thinking about going to buy XP just to be rid of all of the stresses Vista has caused, but I don't really know too much about updating computers. I would hate to dump Vista forever because eventually it should be sort of nice to have. I just don't know what to do. You would think with all of the technology they use in pump therapy they would be able to update somethings to work with different operating systems, and browsers. But again, I don't really know much. Oh well, back to hand writing them every time I stick myself.
