Your new pump company should offer to take it from you, and if they are like Smiths Medical, they should credit you for it.

However, and I say this all the time, I miss my 508. If I had to do it over, I would keep mine the next time around.

I kept mine too Duck. I am going to take it with me to Mexico as a backup. It seems like a waste, but bottom line is it is pretty ancient. Good for an emergency.

It might depend on the pump model, but if you want to transfer it to someone else, you should contact Minimed. They can recertify it and send it to the other person if they're approved, for a fee.

It's either $300 or $500. I had someone who was gonna give me a 508 but my endo wouldn't prescribe it. He felt I needed a newer model (nothing lower than a 512).

Last I checked (& this was in 2003), it was around $495 to transfer a warranty into someone else's name, and the warranty is only good for the duration that the original owner had it for.

I would keep it. I have my old 507c as a backup for my animas IR1200, and it has come in handy several times. I have offered the 507c to a couple of friends with diabetes, in the case that they wanted to try pumping, but no takers so far. Otherwise you could donate it to a hospital. I know the hospital that I go takes donations of pumps for patients who are unable to purchase their own.

Hello, I was diagnosed with type 1 about a year ago and my endocronolgist wants to start using the pump, the only problem is I don't have any insurance so the cost will be totally out of pocket and I can't affoard it. If any one can help me out I would greartly appriecate it.

I really would love to have your old 508. I have been searching like crazy for a pump. Especially an affordable one. May I buy it from you? Is it a good pump to start with?

Please let me know.
Thanks
