I really, really, really like my Cozmo and intend to continue using it most of the time. I just want CGMS once in awhile, and the 522 is the cheapest way for me to get it and I want the convenience of one device when I do use it. Plus having 2 pumps has it's advantages (failures, maybe I'll try pumping symlin, etc). So there.

Um hm, I was thinking the same thing about pumping symlin. I think it's an ingenious idea. Or create a pump with 2 reservoirs, one infusion set, with a CGMS included. Wow. Talk about Borg.

I think once you get sucked into the CGMS and it's novelty and like being able to just look down and SEE where you are will spoil you so bad you'll keep using it 24x7. Then you get that first week's data uploaded and see those pretty, and easy to read graphs, you'll just wonder why you waited so long. I know I did. On Apidra- Haven't tried pumping it yet

On CGMS- I can't afford to use it full time no matter how sucked in I get.

How long have you had your cozmo?
Have you called smith medical, and asked them about integrated cgms? I'm wondering what they would say about that to someone who is going to switch brands.

Abbot has a CGMS that is in final stage with the FDA for use with the Cozmo.




For the record, I have b1tched and moaned about my Cozmo for a while. It just is not for me. That is not to say it is not good for anyone else, as a matter of fact I am willing to concede I am (for whatever reason) uniquely unqualified for this pump. But Smiths customer service has been very, very good to me, and the pump overall is a well thought-out piece of equipment that can change people's lives for the better.

She's not going to switch companies, she's simply using the device (522) for when she wants to use the CGMS & pump in one. She says that she loves Cozmos features best & has no intention of converting over.

This was something I've thought of doing (getting the x22 with CGMS integrated), but to me, it's cheaper to go the standalone route. Besides, I'd rather have a louder alarm in the event the CGMS has (or I have) an issue overnight.

I think people became a little disenchanted when Abbott failed to release the Navigator at the end of '06 (which is when many of us were told it would be released). Hence the flocking of folks to the MM CGMS system.

I've used MM pumps before, and just like all pumps on the market, they have their pros & cons (in essence, I won't get "sucked in"). Like FrankDr said, I just want the best of both worlds - as does Funny - so the MM Guardian (or in Funny's case, the 522w/CGMS integrated) is the current "best of breed" for CGMS, & Cozmo is current "best of breed" for pumps.

That wouldn't work because there is always going to be insulin in the tube and infusion set. You need to have 2 sets for that to work.

Throw in a third reservoir for the glucagon and make everything use the same set. Now we're talking!

Using another companies pump and supplies when she wants an integrated pump/cgms.
I'm sure smith medical is cool with that.
