new pump ~ day 4

well all seems to be going well up to now, was a bit nervous the first couple of days but i'm doing just fine now so no worries.
not too sure when i should start basal testing, should i wait a couple of weeks before i start tweeking? get into a routine first?

2 things have occured during the change over,

firstly i am using less insulin than i was on mdi, i used to take 13 units levemir which only lasted 18 hours, i now use 12 units total over the 24 hours, but my I:C ratio for dinner was 1:5 it is now 1:10. makes sense huh!?

secondly i appear to have suddenly developed DP after i get up! ive not been aware of it before, my Bg's always stayed steady for several hours before. but it could explain the post breakfast spike ive been experiencing in more recent weeks. this morning i tested
2am 6.7/120
7am 6.7/120
8am 8.8/158 then breakfast

for anyone else thats considering a pump, i can recommend it so far, i'm more comfortable with the wearing of the pump, sleeping with the pump, and im experimenting more with the different bolus options and durations, cant say ive totally got it right yet but that will come with time

I have noticed the DP in the morning too. I was at 103 at 6:15 this morning and then at 152 at 8:30, without any food and just a glass of water.

lol ! just add some of these ........................

and you can get away with anything

well this DP thing is well strange! makes me wonder if the levemir was delivering a larger dose that covered it pre-pump.

i havent started tweeking basals yet.
