| | | High Blood Sugar So I just tested my blood sugar, 528 , washed hands retested 477. Ok so its high, I am having high sugar symptoms, dieing of thirst, dry eyes , headache from ****.
looks like I did not get the set hooked back up all the way after I took my shower this morning. It was not turned all the way locked. So I had a nice 87 when i woke up, it was a little high when I got to work , 180 thought that was from dawn phenomnon. So took correction , plus enough to cover breakfast, looks like that 10 u went no where, so I am guzzleing water and waiting for it to come down.
Oh JOY |

| | | I'm so sorry Charlotte!!! And I was feeling bad because I still don't have my DP under control I'm only using 2 basal rates and feeling all bad after seeing how many basal rates everyone else usesl!
I hope you get back together soon. At least you get to track how high and fast you go without any insulin. Get better fast and hook yourself up right next time!!!!
A couple days ago, I had a very aggravating, unexplained 211, then 320 an hour later. I immediately took an injecton and changed sets (proud I had everything with me; wasn't home). Much better in an hour and a half (124). The cannula looked ok, but who knows (maybe I did what you did and didn't turn all the way . . . ummmm thanks for the warning).
A way you could have helped yourself would have been NOT to have eaten with your bg already high -- I'm still learning . . . and that trick helped me once (because I still don't trust I'm always hooked up right)!

| | | Another reason for cgms!
Happens to all pumpers at some point. Either a kinked canula, bad lock, or something. The waiting for normalcy to return is so frustrating.
Hang in there and chalk it up to another lesson learned the hard way.
Mike

| | | Yes, usually I wait to eat when running high, but this is my last day of antibiotics and flu stuff and if I dont eat soon after taking them , I get sick to my stomach, it was a no win situation this morning, all ready had the meds in me so needed food. So now I am just waiting it out, drinking lots of water and running to the restroom,LOL |

I carry a spare syringe or 2 with my insulin just for cases like this so I can inject without having to take the time to troubleshoot (and possibly replace) my site.
Glad you are feeling better.

I have a bottle of insulin and syringes and also a Novolog pen. So if it had not starting coming down, I would have taken a shot. Went walking around the mall at lunch, since I could not eat and I am now down to 232, so another hour and I should be closer to normal.
At least now I dont feel so dehydrated. |

| | | Charlotte,
You know what's strange to me . . . when I shoot high these days, I just hurt all over, but don't get thirsty and "go" a lot. Oh gee, could it be my age or that I've had D for 29 years?! Do you always get real thirsty, etc. when high?

| | | Yikes! That be another reason why I won't pump; so much easier to correct quickly with an injection. |
