| | | First Gusher Yup, you read that right. I now officially feel like a member of the Pump Club. LOL.
I use the Cleo 90 infusion sets. I went to do my scheduled change today and when I pulled the set out, blood just ran out of the hole. Took a couple of minutes to get it to stop. No blood in the line or "weird" readings so I feel it didn't cause any problems.
Just thought I would share.

| | | No gushers yet, just a little bleeding once . When I changed out my set the other day, I got a nice bruise, the site was good, no problems and no pain, but it is black and blue in a circle (quick sets) where the set was at. |

| | Welcome to the club...you know it's not as exclusive as we'd like to think that it is.
Just wait until you get the one that spurts across the room! Now that's a good one!

| | | I have never had one either. I have had bruises once in awhile. I have never had a gusher. I also use IV3000 under my sets. |

| | | Another welcome to the club!
I've had a few good ones on my abdomen (quickset), but last week I had one on my thigh where I use sils. That one took some time to get it stopped...

| | | Whether you use IV300/Tegaderm under, over or around a site, you may still get a gusher. All it takes is to nick or go through a small vein or, to get the real good ones, a small artery. They are no big deal, just apply pressure until it quits. I had a minor one yesterday, first one in over 9-10 months.

| | Whoa! Welcome to the club. I only have had one but it surprised me right in my first month of pumping (Jan 2006.) On my stomach with a Comfort 17mm set. I think they happen to remind us of our first aid training and keep us on our toes!
I felt like the Dutch kid with his finger on the hole in the dike.
I believe now you are official.

| | | I have had some small bleeding at infusion sites before, but two weeks ago, I had a major one. I had just finished lunch (and taking m meal bolus) and was relaxing on the couch when my son came up and wanted tickle monster. While playing with him, I noticed my t-shirt had some blood on it. I lifted it up and there was more blood at the site than I had seen before. I went to the bathroom to clean it up and put in a new site. When I pulled the old one off, blood just came pouring out faster than I could wipe it up. Soaked part of my jeans, my wife comes in and panics a little and helps me to finish cleaning it up. But this was the worst I have ever seen, I could have easily filled two of the vials they using when drawing blood for a A1c test. I am wondering if all the insulin from my meal bolus, made the blood thinner and diminished it's ability to clot faster. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced something similar.
