| | | Gots me a new 2020. Got my new animas 2020 today. Impressions compared to the minimed 522:
Great screen of course.
Easier to check IOB. important.
More of a hassle to change sets, with the inset 30 atleast.
Feels smaller then the 522.
The audiobolus us slow on the 2020, a lot of waiting to confirm.
Overall, a better pump for me. Now if they only had the software here so i could get rid of the annoying warning signals. Not sold here i think though.
Soon to return my old(or well, a year) old 522. Oh the memories...
Oh also got the angled sets, haven't tried them ought though. Will do soon.

| | Congrats on your new 2020, Thomas! I think you did well & made a decent decision based on your needs for smaller basal increments. We look forward to hearing more of your experiences as you go along.
I'll also be curious to know how you like the angled sets once you use them. Please keep us posted on that as well. Again, congrats to you and here's hoping you love your new pump!

| | | Congratulations Thomas!
I've only used 2 different versions of Minimed's so far (512 and 522). However, I know the feeling of getting a new pump. I hope you are happy with the new Animas. Have "fun" with it & have a great day!

| | | Yeah, they do look scary. I felt like I was going to faint the first time they showed us one (put THAT in my kid?!). However, it is true that the whole thing doesn't go in.
Hope you like the pump, Thomas. By the way, if you find you prefer the Quicksets (is that what you were using?) you can still buy the older style (for the Paradigm pump) that's compatible with the Animas luer lock. Aaron used them a lot before the Inset was available in Canada. We find the Inset less finicky though.

| | Glad you are enjoying your new toy. I'm all set to order up my own Animas 2020 - hopefully next week in blue (what colour did you get?). I have had the trial run 2020 for over a month now - and am glad I at least got to try the Minimed 522. The two are great pumps - but 2020 is smaller like you say. Also, I like the luer lock system - and not having to rely just on Animas products for my infusion sets.
I use the 17 mm Sils by the way. I now can say that I don't almost faint putting them in - this is after 3 months of use. Like you say - seeing the needle going in - kind of gross - but it's actually painless (well in my case it is - I have a wee bit of flesh on me). Inset 30 just arrived here in Canada - have asked for a few samples to give it a go - especially good perhaps for those hard to reach places.

| | | I am very happy with the pump. The screen is really great, one small thing i like is that it has a good viewing angle, so i i can see what time it is and other things without having to unclip it from my belt or pants.
I haven't used the angled inset yet, been using the inset 2 with a 6mm straight cannula. So far, the insertion has been totally painfree, which surprised me some. My quicksets with the quicksetinserter thingie, usually hurt some. I am sticking to the insets for now.
Overall, I am very happy i switched pumps(i've got it in grey color). The only thing i don't like about it is the audiobolus function, compared to the minimed. however, the normal bolusfunction is easier and faster than on the minimed, so it doesn't really matter...

I started on the 2020 in November 2007 and love it! A couple of things--Animas should send you the pump software soon. It's free with the pump. They had to work out some software issues earlier on, so there was a delay in getting it out. I got the software kit in February.
When you talk about the annoying warning signals, are you talking about BG Check reminder alarms? If you go to Main Menu, select Bolus, then press Okay. The Bolus Menu comes up; scroll down to Reminders, click Okay. The Reminders Menu comes up; scroll to BG Check, which will say On. Highlight On, click Okay, and hit the Up arrow to change it to Off. Then hit okay.
If that's not what you mean by the warning signals, then...never mind!
I never use the audio bolus function, either.

| | | Lisa, you must have a different 2020 than me. When I go to the Bolus Menu on my pump (purchased Dec 07), I do not have any option to go to Reminders. Appreciate the info though, because I realize it may be possible to remove those pesky reminders. I think I'll check some of my other Set -Up / Advanced screens to find Reminders and see if I can remove it. |

| | Congratulations! I'm envious...I have the 1250 and would love the new screen for when I am bolusing in the middle of the night or anytime I'm without my glasses... (old age ) I found out I could upgrade for a relatively low cost, until I found out that I would not receive the full warranty with the new pump. Based on the fact that I've replaced my pump 3 times since I began pumping, I have to wait out my current warrantly until insurance will cover a new one. (First time replaced due to a recall from Animas with a possible software problem, of which I did not experience; two other times due to loss of stickiness in the rubber where the up and down buttons are) BTW, replacements came very quickly and at no cost to me. Customer Service at Animas is excellent. |

Hmmm... wonder why they're different? I bought mine Nov. 07. Haven't even messed with the software at all.

I guess you don't see the reminder because you have to activate this option first. Go to "Status" at the home screen, then scroll through the different options until you find the reminder On/Off option. Then you will be able to see it under Menu, like Lisa explained | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
