Cool Holy Snikies, it's here!

I guess my Medtronic paradigm 722 won't arrive Monday after all, the UPS guy just brought it to me today. Huge box full of a bunch of different stuff.

3 month supply of silhouettes, 6 quick sets to try, 3 month supply of reservoirs, 3 months of IV preps, a bunch of batteries and a quick-serter in addition to the paradigm 722 pump, paradigm link, paradigm pal, videos, various papers and what-not. No insulin in the box though, I guess they are sending that separately.

Ok, I must confess, by all the various supplies, boxes os this and that, I am a little overwhelmed as it all looks a little daunting. Of course, I'll suck it up, I fought for it hard enough. I guess the trainer is supposed to call me and set up an appointment time, so, until then, I've got another gizmo to push buttons on and make things to "beep", more "diabetic toys".

So, I guess I'll open up the box to the pump now and finally have a look at this machine that is going to happily replace my 5x MDI insulin. Cheers for me!

Now I've got to find some other cause to pi$$ and moan about otherwise, I'm just not ME.

Medtronic doesn't send insulin. Did you order it from somewhere else?

Well, slap my hiney and call me Betty! You're right! Thanks for reminding me, I'm a gink. I ordered the insulin from CCS.

I'm still going through all the boxes. I have NO clue where to start first.

Did you get the usb cable to connect the meter and pump to the computer? MM has not been sending them and people have had to call Novamax, they have taken over the bd link meter and produce the strips and have the cable.
1-800-681-7390 is their number, if the first rep says no on a free cable call again and speak to someone else.

So glad you got the pump so fast.

You'll laugh at me, but I've not got that far yet! I'm still unpacking all of this stuff. I can't believe how much of this and that I was sent! I don't know what I was expecting, but wow, just wow. I'll unpack that box next to see what is in there and I'll re-post.

My new gripe

I knew iy would not be long until I found another cause to gripe and push against! Its >MY< thing, it is what I do best.

So, I went back to my box that UPS brought me, what I did not find was insulin, a pump trainer and my doctor. Here I am, here's my pump, and still, there are my 5 MDI waiting for me in which I want to throw as far away from me as I can, after all, I have a pump! Who wants to keep messing with MDI?

So, I shook the box, just to make sure, I shook it good, upside too! And NOPE! My insulin, my pump trainer nor did my doc fall out of the box. I want my pump full, hooked up and giving me insulin and I want it yesterday. I think I have a right to be petty, why not? It's sitting in front of me, teasing me probably smiling at me when my back is turned. It's just slacking as if it were a Cal-Trans Highway worker. This simply will NOT do. I have never been good at waiting, I often tell people they have 10 seconds to get "XYZ" done and 8 of 'em are gone". Of course, *jerking thumb at my pump* it is still just sitting there. Someone is going to have a really bad day for this! I swear it!

All kidding aside, jeeze, I wish I could get on with using this thing, why couldn't they have just stuffed my pump trainer in the box so it could all start right now?

Good luck with your pump, Sarge! I can only imagine what all must have come with it.

Can't think why they didn't pack your trainer with the box. Must have been out of trainers when they sent your box off. LOL.

I feel your pain. I get the vials of Apidra tomorrow (doc prescribed them today) but I don't have any consumables. Currently trying to make a giving set out of a piece of multi-strand wire that I've pulled most of the copper out of so it's hollow, a paper clip and some gaffer tape. If I give the saline filled reservoir a bit of a spit and polish I recon I'll be good to go by this time tomorrow

Glad you've got it, good luck. I guess we'll be sharing the delights of a new experience at more or less the same time...

Gary

You sound just like me. I felt like a kid at Christmas when I got my pump and stuff.
I hope you get hooked up soon and that you enjoy having the pump. (I know I do),

Congratulations! You should be getting a call from a trainer really soon . . . like tonight or tomorrow. But since you thought you were getting the pump Monday, it may be Monday or Tuesday before you hear from a trainer. Go ahead and follow the instructions and read what you are supposed to ahead of time. You can even do the online pump school.

Best to be good and wait!

Yeah for the pump! Now the real fun begins - you get a whole new set of calculations and such to fret about but the best thing happens a month or 2 after you get started when it all just works like a champ. It IS a lot to absorb all at once but there are a lot of pumpers here to help, answer questions and offer suggestions.

Cheers,
Mike
