| | | Advantages to pumping - the 'alternative' viewpoint Evening all,
All of the regulars here are all up to speed with the well-known advantages of pumping (potential for better control, less hypos etc etc). I thought it would be a nice idea to start a thread for the advantages that those marketing folks just don't tell you about. They can be as silly as you like, or you can surprise me with a resounding piece of common sense that will not have crossed my mind
I'll start.
Advantage #1 - If I'm stood there wearing nothing but my velco belt (thanks Jan ) and my pump is disconected, I can use the wonderous chat-up line of 'Honey, you've got an hour before DKA starts to set in so let's get on with it!'. Until my wife cottons on to how easy it is to disconnect, she'll go for it. If I always do the disconnecting without showing her how it's done, I recon I can use this technique 3 times a day for the next 6 months before I'm discovered. At which point I'll be in trouble, but it will have been worth it
Advantage #2 - Cannot fall asleep straight after taking advantage of 'Advantage 1' as I have to remember to re-connect the pump. Not falling asleep immediately will be interpreted as 'romance' whereas it is actually 'trying not to die'. Everyone is kept happy between advantages 1 and 2.
I'll tell you something - That Barry White? He knew nothing. Nothing I tell you...
More please

| | (Putting pump in my purse)
You can leave a really bad party, telling your husband you left your pump on the bathroom counter. |

| | | When I need a good half hour or so away from the zoo that can be the kids, I tell the wife I need to change my insertion set. So what if I can do it in about five minutes, they don't need to know that.

| | | It makes a good excuse device. Set an alarm and when it goes off, answer it as a pager. A server has crashed and they need you at the office NOW! |

| | | Picking up on the watch theme, you also have an alarm clock connected--I've got mine set for 10:55 so I can be sure I catch the Daily Show w/Jon Stewart. |

| | | Surprise snacks. Theres a benefit. Also known as "Cinnabon" or "Hersheys."
Garry, Ill have to keep that one in mind. And I'm ashamed to admit it but at times I've contemplated using my pump like xMenace said.
There is also the advantage of always having a small flashlight with you.

I suppose you could set it on vibrate and use it as such. |

| | This thread is hilarious
You have a medical reason to swear loudly in public if your tubing gets caught on something or the pump does a bungy
