Not loving how this site is healing

This is 2 days after removing it. I'm thinking I might need to call the doctor tomorrow.

I have had them look like that twice, funnygrl. They are painful and sore. The last one healed when I punctured it and added antibiotic (not recommended). Call your doc. You might try putting some antibiotic ointment on it tonight.

I'd check with your doctor on that one. I'd probably do what Nancy said and then go see the doctor if that didn't work, but I'm more of a do-it-yourselfer. I think you are smart enough to know what to do and be fine, but I do worry about you... Ask for some opinions at work maybe?

I've had several sites that look like that in my 10 mos. of pumping. They have always healed but the worst ones have sometimes taken almost two weeks. I seem to have that problem mostly on my lower abdomen and legs. I use the MM 522 and Sure-T infusion sets. Good luck!

The biggest problem with site that look like that is when they heal, you can feel scar tissue underneath for quite awhile. Yuck... Hope it is better today funnygrl.

Since I started pumping at the end of Jan, 2006, I've had two spots that were obviously not right the minute I removed the set. They both had a bump under the skin. Both were cellulitis and required (for me) Keflex. My doc gives me a prescription to keep on hand.

One of the cases I reported on here was caused by Eddie the cat chewing my tubing when he was a kitten. One was for no apparent reason.

I am pretty careful when I do insertions. I use a clean paper towel as a sterile field, wash my hands well and use alcohol wipes so I'm not obsessive, but careful.

I look at the old sites pretty closely now just to make sure they are all good before ignoring them.

Here's wishing you no bump and quick healing.

Mich

Honestly, the picture doesn't do it justice for how bad it looks.

There's a good quarter sized raised area and about an inch of redness around it. I've had cellulitis before and it feels and looks like that. I've been using bacatracin, but I think I need keflex. I'm waiting for my doctor's office to call me back.

oh no . . . not fair . . . I sure hope it doesn't get any worse. I hope to goodness it isn't cellulitis. You poor girl. I've had really good luck I guess. I use IV3000 under and over, and haven't had even a tiny little bruise (unlike a few years ago).

Ouch Funnygrl! Hope you hear from your doc tomorrow - if not - go to a walk in clinic? I know here where I live - if my doctor is not available - I can go to the clinic (I live in Canada - not sure where you reside).

Not sure tho' about keeping it covered tho' with the bandage. Maybe letting air circulate over it might help - if you don't feel comfortable doing that during the day with clothing rubbing - at least leave it open to the air at night time.

Yeah, I'm letting air get to it at night, but preventing clothes from rubbing during day.
