technical hitch ~ Accu-check Spirit

i've been using the accu-check spirit since october 2nd 2007, and apart from cannula issues which are now resolved i cant fault the Spirit at all.

however last night i wanted to take a 'quick bolus' using the side buttons (for those who dont know this gives a speedy 'blind 'bolus in 0.5 increments) (you can bolus in your pocket!)
but the 'down' button has stopped working all of a sudden, not even a beep.

i just phoned the Roche helpline and they are sending me a replacement pump overnight which will arrive tomorrow.
i asked if this was a common issue and the lady said that it was a problem they are trying to resolve ~ something to do with the materials used.

Did you go to your backup pump, while waiting on the replacement?

That's a bit of a bummer. Do the regular buttons still work or have you had to resort to MDI (he says shuddering slightly in the manner of an ex-smoker faced with a party and old friends)

...And through the night it's love is free
It whispers and it flirts with me
And then it takes me, hard and deep
Rolls over, farts and falls asleep

And I would wake up, feeling used
My body broken, bent, abused
But now I match it, hump for hump
I give it plenty with my pump
