Basal segment and how much each segment

I am seriously considering hooking to pump for better control but is always haunted by the fear of having to adjust the many basal rate at 8 segments that I had once experienced while on pump trial some time ago.

To compare notes, do you mind sharing what your basal rates are and the corresponding time segment?

Your question is key to successful pump usage.

Unfortunately, it is different for everyone and requires some effort to get the segments correct. Your doc can get you started with a guess based on age & weight and from there you need to fast for periods to see what adjustments are needed. There are articles on the web that discuss the procedure in detail. Google "basal testing" and good luck.

You can also search this forum for "basal testing" and get links to good articles and descriptions of people's experiences.

You may not need 8 changes--everyone is different. I have 7 at the moment.

It's a pain at first, but once the background is set, your follow-up is the occasional tinkering with temp basals. It's basically an attempt to superimpose on your body what everyone else's does naturally.

I am in the middle of restablishing my basal rate to improve my control and it is hard work but I am feeling so much better it is totally worth it. I have reduced my hypo so dramatically its making regret not doing it earlier. My new rates are:
Midnight .55
2am .7
4am 1.25
5am 1.9 (scared to do that but is working really well)
8 am .8
noon .3 (havent figured this segment out but set low to avoid hypo for now)
