Usually when I travel from the East to West Coast, I start changing the time back about an hour after take off. I then wait another hour or two and change it back another hour. When I finally reach my destination, I set it to West Coast time.

I do the reverse flying back home.

Have a great trip!

I just spent 4 days in Vegas. Time change of 3 hours.
It drove my BG up around 20 points because of the meal time changes. Then when I went home it continued for almost another week.
It was worth it though.

When I was taking daily injections, and would travel, I would take my Lantus at the same time...I went to Germany and took my Lanuts at 5:00 A.M. ..which was 10:00 P.M. back home.

I'm getting ready to go on the first trip with the ol' pump next week..only going one time zone over...so I might just try to keep on my Central time schedule...even though I am in the Eastern time zone.

I just change the time on my pump when I get there. I may be a little off for a day, but this overall works best.

I actually do the same as funnygrl. If it is only three hours, just change the time on your pump to the destination time. Try to eat your meal accordingly. If you have a longer layover at a hub, change your destination time to your layover time. When you take off again, change your pump time to your destination time.

I traveled to Italy this summer and the time difference was nine hours. I used this method for time change, but spread it out over three hours each time and it worked pretty good. I had a few highs, but that is to be expected when you are eating erratically and sitting around.

Thank you all for the advice - makes sense. I travel 1 hr difference often and never have any trouble with just reseting the time when I cross the zone, but was a bit more concerned with 3 hrs.

Thanks again.

Same here, I just change the time on the pump to be in sync with the new time zone when I get there. Never had a big problem. Unless you have a basal profile change you are not pumping more or less. The most you might do is throw off you daily insulin total on any reports you run.
